Looks I’m In Love With Right Now

Are you looking for a new look? Are you sick of using the same products and creating the same face everyday? Have a little read of some of my favourite looks that are so in right now and hopefully you will be brave enough to try a couple of them out.

Dark/Grungy Smokey Eyes

This is a look I’ve always been a fan of on myself, especially back when I worked for Illamasqua. Believe it or not, it’s probably one of the easiest eye makeups to do, it just requires a LOT of blending, so investing in some decent blending brushes, such as Laura Mercier’s Pony Tail Brush or the Morphe E22 Brush, would be good place to start. The look makes the eyes stand out massively, so if your eyes are your best feature then this would definitely work for you! I often match it with a nude lip, like MAC’s Honey Love, this way the lips don’t take the focus away from the eyes.

Strong Highlight/Strobing

At the minute I am obsessed with buying new highlighters as I just want to achieve a super glowy look just like the one above by make-up artist Desi Perkins. It’s so beautiful, especially when your face hits the light. At the moment I’m using both a cream highlight, Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight, and a powder highlight, Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal, to set and intensify. With such a glow even minimal make-up looks glam, so for those of you that have not got much time on your hands, this would be perfect for you.

This is another minimal look that would suit those of you that are in a rush. It’s a look that focuses mainly on the lips, however the lips are a deep, cool toned colour. I always use MAC Stone or Illamasqua Buff. The eyes have nothing but mascara on them and the skin has a lot less shimmer and seems naturally glowy, which can be achieved by using a matte cream highlight and contour, like Tom Ford’s Shade and Illuminate. The look is suitable for both day and night and the only thing that needs topping up is your lippy!

Bushy/Editorial Brows

A few years ago having bushy eyebrows was a curse, however now its a blessing. If you have big brows, embrace them! There is nothing more beautiful than natural looking brows. I feel they make people look unique and supermodel like, so if you’re lucky enough to have thick, bushy brows, throw away your pencils and powders and purchase a clear or coloured eyebrow gel, such as Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, and let them be free!

Whether it be on the lips or the eyes, I love those who dare to experiment with bright colours. One make-up artist that inspires me by doing this is Ourfa Zinali shown in the photo above. Once you’ve tried it you’ll be surprised at how many different colours actually suit your face. Instead of sticking to the nudes, be brave and try something completely different, even if you match a bright lip with minimal eye make-up. Try NYX Liquid Suede Lipsticks, they come in a wide variety of colours.
